Debian GNU 2.2
Kernel 2.4.20 on an AMD Duron

Welcome to Eric the BBS. (yeah yeah, it's still called Eric :)
This is (probably) the last of a long line of BBSes I've run. (if you're
really curious about the history of this place, type history once logged in)
There's no doubt some features missing/bugs to be fixed, let me
know if there's something particulary annoying and I'll see if I can
fix it.

Greg

Tiny,

I don't have an ADAM, though I do have an old Colecovision. I just remember
you as the ADAM guy - I seem to remember you getting into debates with
people who derided you for being so dedicated to an "orphan" platform.

If I ever see one for sale cheap, I'd probably pick it up just to tinker
around with it. If I recall correctly, those data cassette tapes weren't
very reliable so a real ADAM enthusiast would get a disk drive ASAP.

Now that I'm older, I really do enjoy reading and learning about the old
systems. They had so much more character than today's generic Windoze
boxes. I'm feeling sooo old.

Yeah, a disk drive made life MUCH easier for the Adam crowd, although
the tape drives were reliable enough, just SLOOOOOOOW...
I even ended up with a 3.5 inch drive on mine along with the 5.25.
If you're really interested in one, I can make you a good deal...

I'm not %100 sure but I think UFO went on to the Big Shack In The Sky..
As for the CB community, I haven't been living in the city for a lot of
years now, so I'm not up to date on what goes on. I know it really slowed
down since the early 90's, and I only occasionally hear anyone and it's
even less often that I talk to them...of course, I could just be on the
wrong channels - I doubt if people sit on the same ones used 15 years
ago.
I still shoot skip though. Actually it's kind of nice in a way that the
airwaves are so quiet cuz it makes it easier to talk to the folks that
ARE on channel. CB has actually become one of the more private means of
communication - there are a lot of those FRS radios around now, and of
course scanners can listen to cell and cordless phones, but how many people
these days have a CB? lol
Access to a radio? Heck I've got several laying around if you ever want
one.....and the antenna doesn't have to be ugly...just throw up a half
wave stick - light, sturdy, easy to work with!
